Montparnasse Cemetery, Paris — 2026
Athéna Luxe restored the grave of Michel Bréal (1832-1915), the linguist who founded semantics, professor at the Collège de France and originator of the idea of the marathon race.
After gentle cleaning and hand sanding, the inscriptions were re-engraved by hand and gilded with gold leaf, followed by a protective impregnation. The grave was unveiled on 15 September 2026 at a ceremony attended by representatives of the marathon world from Europe and the United States.
Artmarathon entrusted the work directly to Alain Buitrago, founder of Athéna Luxe, without a tender. A stone carver, he also took part in the restoration of Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral.
“Very beautiful… craftsmanship simply cannot do better.”Benedikt Morandi, President of Artmarathon
Press: Die Rheinpfalz, 18 September 2026 · Unveiling honoured by the German Embassy in France.
